34th ANNUAL FOOD FARE EVENT COMES TO SANTA MONICA
LA’s Culinary Celebration Offers a Sampling of the Region’s Finest Restaurants, Wineries, and Gifts
The Planned Parenthood Los Angeles Food Fare returns this year to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on Thursday, March 7th, with over 150 of Los Angeles’ best restaurants, caterers, wineries, florists and entertainers.
Food Fare began 34 years ago, with a simple cooking demonstration from Julia Child in 1979. Over the last three decades it has grown to become the oldest and most celebrated culinary event in Los Angeles.
Some of the participating restaurants this year include: Angelini, Osteria, Church and State, Drago Centro, Hart and the Hunter, Maison Giraud, Milo and Olive, Salt’s Cure, Superba Snack Bar, Tar and Roses, and Joe’s Restaurant as well as some of the city’s most popular Food Trucks, including The Border Grill Truck and The Grilled Cheese Truck. Food Fare will also feature a raffle, an online and live auction with items ranging from dream vacations to Chicago and Telluride to unique
entertainment experiences, plus much more.
For the fourth year, Food Fare is honoring one of its participating chefs as Planned Parenthood’s Chef of the Year. This year, Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is pleased to announce Joe Miller, chef and owner of Joe’s Restaurant and Bar Pintxo, as Planned Parenthood Los Angeles’ Chef of the Year. “As a big supporter of Planned Parenthood over the years, it is truly an honor to be named as Planned Parenthood’s Chef of the Year! I am very touched to be part of this fantastic event for a cause that is close to my heart”, said Chef Joe Miller.
In addition to gourmet treats and unique offerings at Food Fare, delicious libations participants like The Beer Chicks’ Beer Garden, Summerland Winery, Ferrari-Carano Vineyards & Winery, and La Fenêtre Wineswill be pouring their latest bottles, and Tequila Revolucion will be offering their smooth premium tequila. VeeV Açai Spirit will also be pouring as the exclusive VIP spirit sponsors.
Food Fare attendees will also find an assortment of culinary gifts, home accessories, jewelry, handbags, cashmere wraps, throws, and pillows all for purchase, with proceeds going to Planned Parenthood.
In honor of Food Fare 2013, Velvet by Graham and Spencer has created a limited edition tee shirt that features a custom design utilizing the Planned Parenthood slogan, “Love Carefully,” and will be sold exclusively at the event. “It’s an honor to be part of such an important cause as Planned Parenthood,” said Velvet designers, Jenny Graham and Toni Spencer, “We are thrilled to be back this year with our exclusive design for the Planned Parenthood Los Angeles Food Fare. We love and support Planned Parenthood and we are happy to be able to contribute to such a wonderful event.”
