Chefs to End Hunger

 

Vesta Foodservice established nonprofit, Chefs to End Hunger in 2012 to facilitate the redistribution of prepared food from hotel, restaurant, and other foodservice customers to local charitable organizations that serve meals to their communities in need.

Chefs to end Hunger  provides free of charge kits; cardboard boxes, aluminum food pans, plastic bags and labels to our foodservice partners. They  also provide pick up services for all donated food items and deliver them to organizations in the Los Angeles area who repurpose and redistribute the food to those in need.

In 2023 alone, customers returned 16,524 kits, redistributing an estimated 479,196lbs of food. 

Participating in Chefs to End Hunger supports community efforts and ensures your donors comply with SB 1383.

Tier 1 Businesses (effective January 1, 2022): Supermarkets, grocery stores over 10,000 square feet, food service providers, food distributors,and wholesale food vendors.

Tier 2 Businesses (effective January 1, 2024): Restaurants, hotels, health facilities, large venues and events, certain state agency cafeterias,local education agencies, and non-local entities.

Chefs to End Hunger will be hosting a fundraising event on September 9 at the legendary Hotel Bel-Air, a Dorchester Collection Hotel.  The celebrity chef event will usher out the summer season in style with the return of the end-of-summer barbecue extravaganza. The event is helmed by the hotel's Culinary Director Joe Garcia. The line-up of lauded culinary professionals and establishments includes Burt Bakman (Slab), Saw Naing (The Dutchess Ojai and Joplin's), Jackson Kalb (Ospi and Jemma), San Laurel by José Andrés, Ray Garcia (Asterid, Qué Bárbaro, ¡VIVA! and The Brown Sheep), Alisa Vannah (Chi Spacca by Nancy Silverton), Jeremy Fox (Rustic Canyon), Ashley James (The Beverly Hills Hotel), The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills, and Dialog Cafe.

What to Expect

                  Date & Time: Tuesday, September 9, from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM  .

                  Location: The Front Lawn by Swan Lake at Hotel Bel-Air 

                  Atmosphere: A refined, communal outdoor dining experience under the stars, in the hotel’s signature lush and serene surroundings .

                  Price: $350 per person, plus tax and gratuity—including wine and spirit This event is part of Hotel Bel-Air’s annual visiting chef series.
